Kim Bearden was born in Memphis, raised in Southaven, MS, and the greater metropolitan area. She graduated from Southaven High School, attended Northwest MS Community College, and graduated from the University of Memphis with a BA in English in 1998.She has worked for the Memphis Botanic Garden and the Pink Palace Family of Museums and began her two decade career at Elmwood Cemetery in the fall of 1998. In 2005, she became the Executive Director of the cemetery, and in 2016 she published Elmwood Cemetery with her husband, Willy. They currently live in Southaven and are at work on their second book, a history of DeSoto County. They share 5 children, 2 of whom attend Southaven High School.
